The new Danish holiday legislation has created plenty of challenges around accruals, transition schemes, and more. We had the pleasure of creating an overview of these HR data and transforming long lists into KPIs presented in an easy-to-use Lumira dashboard.
The new holiday legislation raises several new questions:
-
How much holiday do I have left from the old scheme?
-
How much needs to be accrued for the holiday?
-
Can we staff the summer holiday period?
To answer these questions, it is important to have a set of overall key metrics in place, while also being able to view detailed data for each employee. Everyone from HR to Finance should be able to access the data easily and quickly get an overview.
These are some of the key metrics included in the dashboard:
1. Holiday
Here you can see all the holiday days your employees still need to take. You can view the numbers at a high level, slice and dice across gender, age, time, and job function, or drill down to individual employees in your department. With this metric, you, as a manager, can get an overview of whether your department is properly staffed for the summer holiday period and ensure your budget can handle holiday leave.
2. Sick Leave
Gaining insight into both short-term and long-term sick leave is important so that a manager can act proactively on stress and well-being. By slicing and dicing sick leave by job function, a manager can identify trends between sick leave and job function. Are there job functions that are more frequently affected by stress than others? And what can the company do about it? Do we have a challenge with employees in senior age groups, and should we create a senior scheme so they can reduce working hours while still contributing their knowledge?
3. Recorded Performance and Development Reviews (MUS)
This metric keeps track of how many MUS conversations still need to be held, as well as the distribution across departments. This ensures the ability to follow up on missed deadlines and a lack of compliance.
Lumira Dashboard
The application was developed with an adaptive setup, meaning the dashboard can be opened on a PC, tablet, or mobile. Overview and accessibility were top priorities for this solution, with a focus on creating an aesthetic and functional tool that even the least tech-savvy managers can use without needing help from the IT department.
The Lumira solution was designed to provide both a visual overview of holiday usage and allow each manager to investigate conditions at the employee level. At the top, selected KPIs are displayed, while below, the data is shown in more detail.
For the Holiday KPI, the total number of holiday days is shown, along with a bar chart where the red-hatched area indicates the number of days already taken. In contrast, the grey-hatched area indicates the remaining holiday days for the current holiday year.
